The Beanstalk Academy

 FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN

The Beanstalk provides an accelerated program for

“the parent who wants more” for their child!

This program is based on a pre-screening process to assess if the child is prepared to enter and thrive educationally.  It is for the self-motivated and gifted child who seeks enrichment in social studies, science, math, reading, and language. Our program moves quickly, with the children as active participants in the learning process.

The curriculum is a culmination of different methods to enhance all learning styles.  The children who graduate from this program move onto public or private school first grades with a wealth of knowledge in reading, math, language arts, writing skills, and are usually chosen for enrichment programs.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Beanstalk Academy's role in the educational process is to provide the following:

  • To produce a solid foundation for the child's educational process by providing a developmental approach to learning and using different learning tools to teach lessons.
  • To provide group and individual instruction that strengthens the child's thinking skills, fine/gross motor skills, language development, social interaction, and creativity.
  • To act as positive role models to emulate good work habits, create work styles, promote cooperative learning skills, and build "teamwork" skills.
  • To create a stimulating environment where children may grow and learn creatively, and are encouraged to take chances to try new activities that will expand their cognitive growth and learning process.
  • To develop a child's positive self-esteem and enhance their self-awareness by comprehending the materials presented and formulating the appropriate responses.

THE BEANSTALK ACADEMY students “STAND OUT” from the rest as critical thinkers, individuals, leaders, and team players, respecting others feelings as well-balanced individuals.

 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The Beanstalk Academy’s Full Day Kindergarten will provide a solid foundation for the child’s formal educational process.  Positive attributes are formulated through strong independence, self-worth, individualism, self-motivation and the willingness to “reach” and try new experiences

  • Reading is taught through many collective developmental methods; phonetics, phonemics and whole language methods so each child’s abilities will be challenged and they will be able to read with ease and confidence.

  • Math skills are taught through a “hands-on” manipulative approach each day using various materials to strengthen their mathematical abilities through addition, subtraction, patterning, sorting, classifying, graphing and other hands-on activities.

  • Language Arts are taught using several methods teaching the children how to write, create stories, use journals and spell words on their own.  There are many collective class activities each week to combine language development and create group stories together.

  • Science is taught through “hands-on” methods and experiments in class where the students are learning through a collective process and producing experimental results.  Many science units are taught each week to enhance their learning process and are seasonal and cover a wide range of media.

  • Social Studies is taught through a collective process where the students are engaged and learning many units by studying the unit through art, language development, cooking projects and music enrichment.  We study many countries and their indigenous celebrations, including Las Posadas (Mexico), Chinese New Year, St. Patrick’s Day (Ireland) and others.
