The Beanstalk Academy

WHAT MAKES THE BEANSTALK DIFFERENT?

  • Our schedule runs from September to June and students stay in their classrooms the entire school year.
  • Our school is a full day nursery school/kindergarten not a daycare facility.
  • The students grow and mature during the year and are not moved around during the school year, as a daycare facility would do.
  • We provide degreed head teachers in each classroom, not teachers with certifications only.
  • Students need to be in school from Monday – Thursday at minimum in the Nursery School programs and Monday – Friday in the Kindergarten program.
  • We provide a structured daily routine that is “activity based” and builds upon each day through units based on age appropriate activities.
  • All activities are “hands-on” experiences where the children may learn through a variety of media.
  • Art projects are done daily to teach lessons on whatever unit is being presented and the children are using glue, paint, tissue and many other art forms.

  • Literature is presented and stories are read each day to develop listening skills, critical thinking processes and is used as a learning tool for the units presented.
  • Holidays are studied through art, literature, cooking projects and discussed culturally nothing is discussed religiously.
  • Holidays are celebrated with a special snack (homemade by the children), songs, stories, and parents and families are invited to join the children for the events.
  • Field Trips are taken during the school year and relate to the units the children are learning in the classroom.
  • Parents and invited to attend the field trips with the children and two trips per year parents are required to attend.
  • Some trips are taken to; the farm, the post office, the dentist office, a play performance in a theater, a museum and at times trips around units such as; a train ride (transportation), planetarium (solar system), Turtle Back Zoo (animals), etc.
  • The Kindergarten takes trips to the Morris Museum for the unit on Dinosaurs and Earth Explorers, Shoprite for the unit on Nutrition, and the dental hygienist comes to school for dental health month!
  • There are NO TELEVISIONS in our school and the children are engaged in their daily activities and routine.
  • All Pre-K students need to be potty trained. All students need to be able to use the bathroom with little assistance.
